Hi there! I am preparing to animate the first chapter of the story. I will begin with the events taking place in Annas room in the middle of the night. I have developed Anna's character further, as you can see here. Right now I am continuing with the backgrounds and designing Anna's father and mother. I have also been finishing up the Volvo Duett, the car that will be used in the first chapter. More information will follow.

Congratulations, she looks pretty good. The only real thing I would change is that her upper arms look rather skinny and unnatural, especially in the shot from the back (and to a lesser degree from the front). Maybe some slightly more bulky clothing around the upper arms would hide that.
Another thing I notice now that I look at it more closely is that the drawing on the far left and second from the right has arms which are just slightly too long compared to the rest of them.
Have you tried thinking of how you could animate her run? I remember you tried studying some footage of Hermione running from Harry Potter a while ago... the current design, while fairly good, is shown in stationary poses so far - I can't help but wonder how well it would hold up to more dynamic demands.
P.S. Ola, did you ever have a chance to watch that film I sent (with the subtitles)?

Thanks Esn! The Character will probably change a little, as some of the proportions. Thanks for the remarks! I will soon start to test the animations. Anna is currently made up of 52 layers, so that I can controll the charater as good as possible. Then I am not counting in the hands, as I have not done them properly yet. I have been looking a little at Anime Studio (former Moho) as it has a great animation tool including building a skeleton that chapes can be attatched to. The only major problem is that the exporting to swf function is not even 70% accurate.
I have not yet looked at the movie as that specific computer is at the moment being fixed. I hope I can look at it tomorrow, if I can get my computer back in one piece(:

I had a computer crash a few months ago, too. It's not very fun. I think that because she's a fairly young girl, maybe her arms should be thicker overall. Young people usually have proportionally thicker arms than adults. Unless they're malnourished... which I wouldn't be too surprised if Anna is, judging from the story... By the way, if you look through the old entries of Adam Philips' blog (from October 2006 onwards), he mentions some useful programs and flash tricks: oohbitey.com/blog/woodblog.html

I have finished the car now. Here it is, exported four times with different quality. All of them as swf format.

A background that I have been working on today. Anna is sitting in her room, looking out from her window.

Those all look awesome! I don't know why, I imagined Anna being blond. You know, I have a feeling Anna is going to get along with Nim right off the bat. I mean, they have similar clothing styles, too. =D

Wow...
I have no idea what's going on right now... how can you export something made in a 3D program as a .swf file, and how can you animate it within flash? I just don't quite understand what I'm seeing.
I really like the image of the trees reflecting from Anna's window. I just have one question: why's the upper left of the image black? Is that the sky, or a wall of some kind...?
If you're looking for suggestions, one possible thing to make the windows look more integrated with the wall is to maybe have some very small bits of broken-off white paint on the wall beside them.

Sketching on the inside of Annas room, this image is not finished. Some angles are wrong and quite a few objects are missing. Have a nice weekend everyone!

I've gotta say, I love the wallpaper and the blurry windows. The texture of the wood is also quite nice. It's really giving off the right "vibe" so far. I'm not sure if I remember this correctly, but were you originally going to create Anna's room in 3D? Say, just an idea... would it be possible to add some kind of subtle cloth texture to Anna's dress? To make Anna fit into her surroundings more, that is; most of the backgrounds have some kind of texture. I'm not sure if it would work or how difficult that would be.
