I have recently started to develop the characters more in detail, first out is Anna who will have a key role in this tale. During the years Anna has developed quite a lot, but now I believe I am as close as I can get. Already from the beginning I had pictured Anna as blond, as I recall Darren did aswell. But the problem with using a white colour is that you have to use the reflection of the enviroment to colour the white, as white itself is a very plain and bright colour. So I just though I would get around all this by giving Anna a dark hair and some colourful clothes. Still, I could not let go of my original vision, so here is the first conceptual sketch of the Anna to be, and to make it all even more problematic, I gave her a white dress. I believe I will curse my decision many times as Anna will have a hard time to keep it from getting dirty...

Looking good Ola; good to hear from you. Is she the girl from the first Nim tale?
I love the intro page to the website, I saw my little pixie man!

Nice to hear from you!
No offense meant, Ola, but those drawings look really creepy to me for a number of reasons... rather ghoulish, actually. The arms/legs are mismatched, but the biggest reason is certainly the facial expressions.

I agree, Esn! Anna does appear quite ghoulish and spooky! I noticed you have "old Nim" next to her. To be honest, Anna looks more like "old Anna." I guess it's the white and pale skin which makes her seem old. Anyhow, it's great to see a bit of progress, Ola. =]

This is a first conceptual sketch mostly trying to sort out her colours, clothes and hair. I have not been putting any real effort on her face yet, right now she has quite a vacant expression. The Nim character is mostly sketched up to compare their size.

Looking good Ola; good to hear from you. Is she the girl from the first Nim tale? Hi Mute! I have not made any decisions on that yet, there are some issues in the first movie that will not really fit into the new one, but that is the way of development(: But thinking logicly, it would make sense.

I think that Old Nim could be made to look a bit more friendly by giving him some fatter cheeks. Like Santa Claus (though there are better examples, that's just the first one I thought of).

Hahah. Well, Nim looks like a refugee from a war zone, that's all I'm saying. Although I'm not sure what your intention is. He looks like he's had a really hard life, but if he's lived his whole life in the wilderness then that may account for it (though it wouldn't jibe with the Nim who hung his key by his front door in "Nim's Winter Tale"). Those deep wrinkles cutting down & sideways across his cheeks accentuate the effect. I just hope he can still smile!

Hahah. Well, Nim looks like a refugee from a war zone, that's all I'm saying. Well, in a matter of fact, Nim is a refugee and have been living in exile for over 200 years. So Nim has indeed changed in apperance. In Nim's Winter Tale he is more of a young man, But during the story we will visit Nims past a few times. So he will not always look old.

Hi! I have been trying to transform my vision of Annas looks into Anime Studio, and so far I have been concentrating on her face. I have been trying to find a good balance of nice details and the ability to animate, I have been rigging her face so far so that all parts of her face can be animated, all colours easely changed and so on. There are many issues that I have to solve before she is finaly ready, some of those things are the look of the nose and mouth. There are many different styles to use, so I will keep on experimenting whith that. I hope you now can see that she will not turn into a Ghoul or any other evil beast of darkness(: I will continue after the weekend, have a nice one!

That does look a lot better. Maybe consider making the nose a little bit narrower and the hair not quite so thick (I think it looks more like "model hair" than "little girl hair").

Yes, I have to make some changes to her, I will put up some updates as I go along.
Right now I am working on a Raven that will be a part of the introduction. I will post some images as soon as I feel confortable(:
