Here you go, a bigger image of The Twisted Oak. It is not finished, there is quite a lot of work left. I am not really sure about the scale of the Twisted Oak yet. But as it is the source of all the evil in this world, it will be more like a huge fortress than a tree. You can see its wooden gate a little right of the center. I am not sure if there will be a gate, I will have to decide that later on. Scales are an important factor, and also a big problem, as there are many different sized creatures in this world, and I mean VERY different sized. It is quite important that they can fit into the world in their own way. Please enjoy!

Another background image, more like a concept image, of a forest. You can see a little Nim standing on a big boulder to the right. This image is not finished either, and I won´t finish it until I know it is really needed. I will use them as inspiration to create other backgrounds.

Wow, both of those look absolutely great! Are those small paths/roads on the right of the 1st picture, heading up to the gate? If so, then that oak is gigantic! I think it's just the right size - it makes it look very threatening. I think the gate may be a touch too big, though, and a little too rounded - it makes the oak look much smaller than it really is (at least compared to the paths). It would be really cool if you had a shot where someone was walking toward the tree along one of those paths in the right hand corner, and then you had the camera slowly zoom out until the enormity of the landscape really sinks into the viewer! I love the second background with Nim as well - it looks like he's looking at an enormous mountain range, with little paths winding up the passes between the valleys. It could be a great night scene. I think that it would be a good idea to use Flash 8's blurring abilities for blurring different parts of the background depending on what the camera is focusing on - those rocks cannot look sharp at the same time as the huge panorama behind them does. I hope you'll get around to posting some of your other stuff sooner or later.

Yes, they are sketches for little paths. I believe the gate is a little to big, and I am not sure if I will use it. Maybe just a cavelike entrance will do the trick. If there shall be a gate I am thinking about putting it furher inside the tree. I will animate your idea later on, it would be nice to make somekind of camera motion to reveal the proportions of it all.

Couldn't links on this forum be made a different colour? There was actually a link in this message, but you can't see it unless you put your mouse over it.

After much playing around with the Hex guide, the best I could do was black for the link colour. Everything lighter sticks out oddly, and darker too closely resembled the original text. One option is to use a bolder font, but I'm not sure how to do that. Doesn't seem to be an option to change it.

It still doesn't look any different. There are three types of links: "link" "vlink" and "alink". It looks like you only changed the settings for "alink" because it only turns black when my mouse is actually clicking on it, not before or after. Granted, that's how it works in html - I'm not sure what this board uses.
Why not just use standard blue/purple? Or at least light/dark red... dark green may be good as well. Black doesn't stand out at all, and the purpose of having links a different color is so that they can be noticed...

Black doesn't stand out at all, and the purpose of having links a different color is so that they can be noticed... OK, my options are: 'Link', 'Active Link', and 'Visited Link'. I changed 'Link' to black, and from my end it was black even when my pointer wasn't on it. If I tried a bolder colour, it would appear on every link on the whole board, hence it looks awful.** I changed 'Active Link' to a bright red to test it out, and I saw no difference anywhere on the board. Changing 'Visited Link' would obviously do no good. So, I'm not sure at this point what the solution is. **Edit: Ok, I messed around with shades of green, I think I'm starting to figure it out. Does this colour suit everyone? If not, feel free to change it Ola. Also, refer to this topic for more detail: olabergner.proboards42.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=General&thread=1128764495&page=2

I think that everything looks much better now, so good job. As I said before "alink" (aka active link) is when your mouse is actually clicking on the link. You can make it whatever colour you want, since it'll only be that way for a second. Heck, change it to white if you want. And we're now very off-topic, so I'll shut up now.
