that was funny and as you said short. I liked it alot! The attention to detials is amazing in your flashs! and the music was just about right for that animation. Keep it up! I really enjoy seeing your stuff.

It is indeed short. If you're planning to send it to Newgrounds, I think you should correct a few spelling mistakes, though: 1) it should be " An Ola Bergner Film" 2) "Remember" is spelled wrong It went well with the music, especially the introduction. Other than that, I think it lingered on the beach crabs a touch too long (too long is when I recognize that there's a set pattern to their movements). Sumo's mouth when he smiled was a bit too low on his face, so it looked... not right (he ceased to look like a character and started to look like a badly-done drawing). His face was great when you see the close-up of him, however. Also, the gradients that you used didn't quite correspond with where the shadows would normally be, so IMO it would've been better to leave some of them just a single color; the fish's eyes for example, and the leaves. Also, when you see a close-up of Sumo, his right arm (the one that's raised up) is drawn a little sloppily. OK, I'm done nitpicking now. Consider this my would-be Newgrounds review.

Awesome, I love the bright rich colours and the expressions on his face. Has me wondering though if anyone in the States might try and call it racist given the comical depiction. *Not* saying it is, but some people get hysterical over nothing... anyway keep up with this one.

Hell, can anyone really get hysterical over such a thing? (That's then like last British election campaing: drawing comics of Mr Blair is all right, whereas drawing the same comics of Mr Howard is antisemitism. Quite logical). I see Esn writes better what I tend to write about artwork when there's no him around, so I'll just give my impressions: it's nice. If I hadn't seen the other two flashes, I would probably call it a result of great work and a sign of a good level in overall making of flash movies, but now I just say it's nice and amusing and (fairly) well done Honestly, seeing the title with "sumo" and "bamboo" letter combinations, I first expected something rather japanese due to obvious reasons, so that was another point of amusement when I saw the environment and then that samurai

Sorry to derail the thread here, but recently in Canada there was a newspaper cover that mimicked the Liberal Government party as being "The Soprano's", you know the black and red picture with the handgun in the font...Anyway, the opposition party was caught in a photo holding up the paper and laughing. Omg, d**n them to hell , they chuckled at something they had no part in the writing of. So anyway, the Liberals, realizing they are being made to look foolish, backlash and accuse the opposition of being racist against the italian community. No kidding. I would like to believe that most people see this as ridiculous, but wow what a world we live in where something as simple as laughing at a news report makes you out to be some kind of racist ghoul. But of course nothing was said of the reporter who created the supposed racist headline in the first place...Anyway, carry on with talk about the new flash.

A'right, about the film: Front Page again, and again more than 4 points average at this stage. I'm not sure, but Ola's likely to be the most successful debutant to NG this year, if not ever... Not that I'm amazed ;D

Hi there. Yes, Sumo is probably going to stir up a few emotions, and he should. I think many people are afraid of the colour black when it is used on people. They call it racism, on what grounds? Is it because of the fact that Sumo is black? No, it is not. Is it because we are afraid that Sumo resembles what the Western world thought Africans to be like, and some still thinks? Possibly. Anyway, I think it is lethal to mix up the reality with the world of the comics. For a starter, comics are often fiction. Sumo is black because it looked better, it would be stupid to make him in a dark brownish hue just for the sake of it. There is a thin line to walk on here. If I had made a comic strip about a Indian living in the Amazon jungle, dressed in the same way, then I do not think anyone would oppose. But because it is an African, then the thought about racism is directly present. It is ok to create a white guy who lives in the African jungle together with apes, dressed in the same way as Sumo and speaks a monkey language, but if you replaces him with a black guy the results are devastating…. How could this happen?

It barely crossed my mind this could be consider racist. I dont think theres anything even going in that direction in it anyway. So, to get to another point, i found somethings in the flash wich i noticed (after watching it twice now ) The text at the beggining introducing you to the jungle wich is white, stood out to much i think, maybe make it like the yellow/orange/red one before? It somehow seems to slow the movie down there after the great fast paced intro, and looks a bit out of place. At least thats what my first impression was. The second little tiny detail, wich i also noticed first time watching it, is a tiny part of the jungle looking odd. Its in the scene where sumo is jumping out of jungle, the top of it looks like a bad texture edge. heres a screenshot where i marked the line: But its great as it is, really a good flash! @edit: just noticed, with the jpg compression of the screenshot, the line gets a bit blurred and doesnt stand out as much like in the flash, so maybe you just blur those edges together?

Just kidding, thanks for your advice, I will look it up, I just was so happy finishing it, I thought that I would never have to open that specific Fla again. But I was sooooo wrong. I will have to correct those spelling flaws as well. Thanks members!

The first time I saw this, was sometime around last night when you submitted it on NG! It's really good ola, and I think Sumo has the potential to become a real comic someday!
Oh, I got the first review for your film! Yar! ;D ;D

I think I noticed what Mario meant with the text, it just seemed a bit stark. Not so much that it's bad, but maybe needs some doodling around the edges or a fancier font. But I think the trouble you have gotten yourself into Ola is that your work is so bloody amazing that minor imperfections may stand out. I'm not even saying that to be a suck-up, it's the age old story of the straight 'A' student who gets a 'C' in gym class. If everything else didn't stand out, the imperfection would never be noticed, or mentioned. Potentially tough situtation to be in...
